The Emerald Green Arborvitae tree retains its fragrant, bright emerald- hued needles all year long. The conifer grows to a medium height of 12-14 feet with a three to four foot spread.
Its form is upright, tall and narrow. The tree’s spread makes it ideal to use as a privacy screen or windbreak. An added plus is that the trees require very little maintenance.
The Emerald Green Arborvitae grows six to nine inches per year and is hardy and easy to grow. It is also long-lived, with a lifespan of 50 to 150 years.
In spring, small male and yellowish female flowers emerge on the ends of the tree branchlets. The male flowers drop off, but the female flowers become small green cones that will change to brown. Emerald Green Arborvitae fruit contains two tiny winged seeds which mature after the growing season.
The Emerald Green Arborvitae tree grows best in full sunlight to partial shade, and in slightly acidic, sandy or clay, well-drained soil. Hardiness Zone: 4-8
